The place is also well famous for some renowned training and educational institutions such as the Indian Military Academy, Forest Research Institute Petroleum, Oil, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Survey of India, Wadia Institute Of Himalayan Geology, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Wildlife Institute of India and the Forest Research Institute and Doon School. Kempty Falls– It located approximately 15 Kms far from Dehradun, this site (Kempty falls) is the one key attraction of Mussoorie.
Assan Barrage- It is a barrage which is located in the uttarakhand- himachal Pradesh border region. Asan River and Eastern Yamuna River attract large number of visitors day by day. You can also visit to Dhalipur Lake in this area; it is famous for sightseeing of migrant Eurasian birds
Mussoorie– It is approximately 35 Km from Dehradun, it is one best tourist favored hill-station destination in Uttarakhand. The name “Mussoorie” is derived from the word “mansoor” shrub which is commonly found in that area. You can also visit to the popular resort “queen Of hills” in Mussoorie, the site is located 2000 meter above the level and it is considered as the most popular hill resort in the country set-up by captain Young in the year 1823.
Gun Hill- It was quite famous even before the pre-independent period as well. It is proclaimed that there is a firing sound occurred from Gun Hill every afternoon to alert the people about the time. Rolling 400 meter ropeway is the main attraction in this place.
Nag Devta Temple- It is approximately 6 km far from Mussoorie, the main festival season of this temple starts on navaratri season. The temple is quite popular for wish-fulfillment.
Bhadraj Temple– This spot is fine trekking, approximately Bhadraj is approximately 15 Kms far Mussoorie. Extreme view of Doon valley is the ultimate scenario in Bhadraj Temple. The temple (Bhadraj) is dedicated to Lord Balbhadra, brother of Shri Krishna.
Surkanda Devi– It is a temple of Surkanda Devi which is located in Tehri District. Dhanaulti is nearest hill station to this place. Dense view of surrounding forests and bounded Himalaya scenes makes the place awesome. Festival secession in this temple usually celebrate in the months of May and June i.e. Ganga Dussera festival
Jwalaji Temple–It is also called as Benog Hills, the temple is approximately 10 km far from the destination. Rich forests and blend scenario of Himalayan peaks , Doon valley and Yamuna valley makes the destination more beautiful.
Rishikesh- One of the important pilgrim centers in the state of Uttarakhand. It is also called as the place of sage, flow of deep river holy Ganga added divinity of this place. The destination Rishikesh is also called as “Place of sagas” You can see lots of yoga-mediation centers across the place. The riverside of Rishikesh represent the homage of Sadhus and sages. It is also belief that Lord Vishnu killed demon Madhu-Kaitabha in this place. The best timer to visit this spot is March and April and September to October. If you are planning trip to Rishikesh we recommended you to avoid the visit during monsoon season which is during July to August. During this time rafting will be temporarily closed for security reasons. Rishikesh zone is surrounded by shivalik range and it is the starting point of Char Dham pilgrimage.
Bharat Mandir- It is one of the oldest temple situated in Rishikesh, it is believed that the temple came into existence since AD 789. It is believed that famous sage Sanskrit pandit Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya re-installed the temple on this auspicious day of Basant Panchmi. The temple is dedicated to Lord Rama’s younger brother Bharat. He is known by the name Bharat because he is considered as the embodiment of lord Vishnu in kaliyuga age in preserving the force holding Shankh, Chakra, Gada & Padam in his four hands. That’s the reason why the temple is dedicated in the name of Bharat.
Triveni Ghats- It is another pilgrim favored holy place in the state of uttarakhand. It is the merging point of three rivers Ganga, Yamuna and legendary saraswati river. It is believed that bathing in this water helps to wash away the sins, during every evening there is an aarti (pooja) function held on the bank side, it is worth to attend.
Neelkanth Mahadev Temple–The site is exactly 32c km far from Rishikesh, it is one of the famous Hindu temple which is dedicated to the lord Shiva – Nicknamed as Neelkanth (having blue thoughts). It is situated approximately 1330 meter height and is located in the Pauri Garhwal district of uttarakhand. The temple is bounded with valleys of Brahmakoot, Brahmakoot and Vishnukoot. Maha Shivaratri (Birth date of God Shiva) is the notable festival of this temple. This time the temple is found crowded mostly.
Shatrughan Temple– It is one of the ancient temple which is situated 5 Kms from Rishikesh, The temple is dedicated to Shatrughan who is lords ram’s brother.
Lakshman Jhula- Lakshman Jhula is a pure iron-made hanging which is located in Rishikesh. History says that the bridge was built in the year 1929 by Lakshmana for the purpose of crossing the Ganga River. Proud to say that Tourism promotion council of the state well maintained this place. Lakshman Jhula is one the rarest hanging iron bridge in the country. Ram worshipping Shri Raghunathji temple is located near to this place.
Kailash Niketan Temple- The main temple is situated at Laxman Jhoola, it is a thirteen storey mansion where you can see the sculptures of all gods and goddesses. Ram Jhula- It is a hanging river looks like Lakshman Jhoola which is located between Shivanad ashram and Swargashram. Shivanand Ashram is a yoga and spiritual center which is established by the great social thinker Swami Shivanand. It offers spiritual life training, meditation and yoga practicing. Similarly Swargashram is a divine practice place which Is located in Rishikesh, it is believed that Swami Atma Prakash is the first yogi who came here this place initially. He is the creator behind Swarg Ashram trust. The trust initially aimed to provide all the spiritual benefit to the wished pilgrimers who reached here
